Description: Develop an understanding of how to screen, assess, and counsel elderly clients for a substance use issues and or history. We’ll explore specific issues around how substance use and abuse of both prescription and or illicit drugs can so adversely affect the elderly as well as case management resources.
Objectives:
1. Develop an understanding and skills in screening, assessment and counseling elderly clients around substance use issues.
2. Identify specific problems that elderly may experience due to their age and how their symptoms may differ than a younger population.
