Description: Positive Psychology focuses on supporting clients to live a happy and meaningful life,
experiencing a full range of emotions. This branch of psychology focuses on living a healthy life,
physically, mentally, and emotionally. It focuses on positive traits of the individual and society. As other
branches of psychology focus on problems and deficits, positive psychology works to support the
positive qualities of life. We will learn positive psychology skills that embrace mindfulness, well being
skills such as kindness, compassion, and social connection in both mental health and substance use
recovery.
Objectives:
1. Develop and understanding of positive psychology and how to apply it through curriculum and
skills.
2. Assist clients in identifying existing strengths and positive traits to build upon change in their
lives.
