ACCT 109 - Understanding the Neuroscience of Trauma and Its Treatment: A Skills Based Training

Description: Participants will learn about the neuroscience of trauma and its treatment based on the 3 part brain, polyvagal theory, and trauma responses of fight, flight, and freeze. We’ll learn 6-8 emotional regulation skills to assist the nervous system in regulating itself leading to greater resiliency and the ability to work through daily triggers. We’ll explore the levels of addressing trauma and negative memories through psycho-education, emotional regulation, and body centered trauma treatment. Case studies in both SA and MH will be discussed.

Objectives:

1. Participants will learn about the neuroscience of trauma and its treatment based on the 3 part brain, polyvagal theory, and trauma responses of fight, flight, and freeze.

2. Learn 6-8 emotional regulation skills and learn the 3 levels of trauma treatment.

Arriving more than 20 minutes late to a virtual training may prevent receipt of full workshop hours. Participants must be on camera for the duration to receive credit for the training.
