Grief and Loss in Mental Health and Substance Use Counseling: A Client’s Transformation

3.0 Hours SS, EBT, PSY

Cost: $45 for 3.0 hours of continuing education, NCASPPB and NBCC approved.

Objectives:

1.      Explore a developmental model of grief and loss across the lifespan as well as understanding the various stages of grief and loss. Identify the multiple causes of loss and the resulting grief.

2.      Identify symptoms of complicated or ongoing unresolved grief. Explore 3 bibliotherapy resources for self-help and counselor guided therapy with a client.

3.      Explore grief and loss through the lens of transformation and healing.

Description: This training will explore a developmental model of grief and loss across the lifespan. Participants will explore the multiple causes of loss and grief as well as how to identify symptoms of grief that are productive and transforming versus when grief becomes complicated or unresolved. Participants will explore 3 workbook resources for utilizing with clients that are both self-help and counselor guided. Case studies will incorporate both mental health and substance use case studies.

No refunds are made due to technology problems resulting from participants audiovisual equipment or personal internet failures. Arriving more than 20 minutes late to a virtual training may prevent receipt of full workshop hours. Participants must be on camera for the duration to receive credit for the training.
