Description: Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) begins with a shift in focus from the client’s past to the present and future. SFBT supports a client to identify and build upon their strengths, resources, successes in their life, and current solutions in a brief period of time. This evidenced-based counseling utilizes the miracle question and several skills to bring the client into the present moment to make improvements in their life and mental health.

Participants will learn and practice 5-7 skills of SFBT to utilize immediately in their counseling practice.

OBJECTIVES:

1.     Learn and discuss the basic philosophy and approach of SFBT as applied to mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.

2.     Learn and practice 5-7 SFBT skills in small groups utilizing both mental health and substance use case examples.
