DESCRIPTION: Learn the basics of Blood Borne Pathogens, HIV and Hepatitis C counseling. We’ll explore the ethics around screening, testing, prevention education, counseling and treatment.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Learn the basics of HIV & Hepatitis C counseling including prevention education, testing, screening, counseling, and treatment as an ethical requirement in substance abuse or other high-risk populations.
2. Develop skills in introducing the topic of prevention, testing, screening, and reduction of high-risk behaviors. Explore the ethics involved in ensuring a client understands their behavioral risk factors as well as wellness prevention factors.
AGENDA:
1-2:30 pm Basic HIV and Hep C counseling including prevention education, testing, screening, counseling, and treatment as an ethical requirement in substance abuse or other high risk populations.
2:30-2:45 pm Break
2:45-4:15 pm Develop and practice skills in introducing and teaching prevention, testing, screening and reduction of high-risk behaviors.
