Description: Learn the 12 core functions of a MH and SA counselor, screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, psychoeducation, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, referral, record keeping, and consultation. Practice skills and develop resources in each area. Learn about test prep resources for LCAS and CDAC.
Objectives:
1. Introduction to the 12 core functions of a MH and SA counselor.
2. Develop skills and resources for each core function.
3. Identify resources for tesp prep of the LCAS and CDAC exams.
AGENDA:
1-2:30 pm Define and explore the skills and practice of the first 6 core functions of the counselor
2:30-2:45 pm Break
2:45-5:15 pm Define and explore the skills and practice of the last 6 core functions of the counselor
